The world is full of wanna-be leaders, teachers and sages, keen to tell you how to live. Strangely enough, in my own mental travels the closest I’ve come to finding one is a man who was totally antithetical to the idea of one person holding a greater truth: Robert Anton Wilson. Like Gareth Branwyn, I’ve always danced between two seemingly separate worlds, those of science and mysticism, and as Branwyn also found, in RAW’s work “here was a world where these points of view were not mutually exclusive, a playfully plastic world where open curiosity, creativity, absurdity, and skepticism leavened all explorations, whether religious/mystical/artistic or scientific”.
Above is the video Maybe Logic, a documentary-length compendium of quotes and anecdotes from RAW that I’m sure plenty of Grail readers will enjoy. Just do Mr Wilson a favour, and don’t take it all too seriously…
Guerrilla ontologist. Psychedelic magician. Outer head of the Illuminati. Quantum psychologist. Sit-down comic/philosopher. Discordian Pope. Whatever the label and rank, Robert Anton Wilson is undeniably one of the foundations of 21th Century Western counterculture. Maybe Logic – The Lives and Ideas of Robert Anton Wilson is a cinematic alchemy that conjures it all together in a hilarious and mind-bending journey guaranteed to increase your brain size 2 – 3 inches!
