Welcome to the 3rd dimension! Oh wait…

Quote of the Day:

Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties.

John Milton (1608 – 1674)

    1. Doomsday postponed
There will be no collisions today, but it is possible that some trial collisions will be performed as early as next week, to help scientists to calibrate their detectors.
We’re not on the clear yet! 😉

  1. Lourdes
Bernadette never saw the grotto again. Hers was a brief, hard life thereafter, marked by sickness [Emphasis mine], an unsympathetic mother superior and the constant demands of people who came to the convent to meet her. Wanting to hide away at St. Gildard, she once said to a group of tourists who asked her for souvenirs, “I am not a shopkeeper.”

Long bedridden in the convent’s infirmary, Bernadette bore the cross of ill health and worried that she hadn’t done enough with the gifts God had given her. She received last rites four times before she died in 1879 and was canonized 54 years later.
Why didn’t she use the miraculous healing water from the spring that she found thanks to the apparition? And if she did use it, why it didn’t work with her?

Of course, I have to remind myself that, concerning the other most famous Marian apparition—Fátima— two of the boys that witnessed the “lady from the havens” died shortly after. Only Lucía remained to live a long life of seclusion as a nun. Could there be a link between these early deaths and the sickness reported by people who experience UFO Close Encounters (i.e. radiation exposure)?

  2. Glactic internet through “tickling stars”?
Seth Shostak of the SETI Institute in Mountain View, California, thinks it is a “nice suggestion”.

“But I’m inclined to think that positing the Cepheid scheme is like someone in Marconi’s time predicting future radio broadcasters will use giant spark-gap transmitters to reach audiences in large cities,” he says. “Better technology means higher efficiency [emphasis mine], so using an entire star as the ‘carrier’ seems unlikely to me.”
…Oh, forget it! It’s just too easy. 😉
