    To our ears, this sounds so over the top that it is almost amusing, but to a kid who earnestly believes that these monks have hidden knowledge of the karmic cycle, it is devastating. She was convinced that her soul was polluted and irretrievably flawed, and that nothing she could do would allow her to ever learn like the people around her.”

    it makes you really wonder though, how much of this is strict to all Buddhist beliefs or also in large part to the fact that she is a girl. furthermore this seems like another perfect example of how people can interpret a religion anyway they want and no one is right (speaking of the monk not the author of this article). Religion today, be it from the Bible or other sources, seems like a giant everlasting game of telephone. In the end, no religion is without flaw nor evil because man is never without flaw nor evil.

      Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to ask Stanley Kubrick about the possibilities available to him to fake the first moon landing? I doubt he would answer anything. nor would he verify that the elaborate symbolism in The Shining about such a faking was real, but I would just like to see the look on his face.
