Today is World Environment Day. Ask not what your planet can do for you, but what you can do for your planet.

Quote of the Day:

For Therapeutic Purposes

I have not been quite right in the head
Like a balding tyre, I’ve been losing my grip
I have been given various medications
to help me cope
anti-depressants
anti-psychotics
And my brother has given me
a skipping rope.

A poem from John Hegley’s Uncut Confetti (Amazon UK).

  1. Love the quote
I could have written that myself.
    But didn’t.

Some great news today Kat.I liked the story of the Roman bloke found in London.

Adult resistence to science…yep that’s me.

I don’t know about marriage being such a good treatment for depression.
It certainly helps to have a partner.
But there is such hard work in accomodating another person in your life that fewer people are bothering now.
Specially women, who feel that the trouble of coping with men who have been spoon-fed by their mothers is not worth it.

No I don’t hate men.I meant specific men.

    1. The quote
I found the poem posted at one of the science blogs I linked to. Here’s how I’d probably have written it:

I have not been quite right in the head
Like a balding tyre, I’ve been losing my grip
I have been given various medications
      to help me cope
      anti-depressants
      uppers, and downers –
like a sister who keeps trying to give me
      the hangman’s rope.

I’ll pass on a so-so marriage. I’m convinced that, for both men and women, a better prescription for depression would be a maid who also cooks. 😉

      Kat
