New Scientist is celebrating its 50th anniversary at the moment, with a number of features on the website which are worth checking out (although some, sadly, are subscriber only). For a journey through ‘new science’ history, take a look at some of the classic articles from the pages of the mag. There’s a fascinating section titled “Brilliant Minds Forecast the Next 50 Years“, and – probably of most interest to TDG readers – another section on “The Biggest Questions Ever Asked“. Although only for subscribers, this latter section has Roger Penrose writing on reality, Paul Broks on consciousness, and Mary Roach discusses what might happen after we die. Pretty cool stuff.
