A new plan for solving the Oak Island mystery has been proposed, and investors are being sought to back the expedition. As many know, the major hurdle thus far in the search of the ‘Money Pit’ has been water incursion. The new idea looks to get around this problem by freezing it:
The latest plan is to drill a series of holes a metre apart in a ring 30 metres in diameter. At the centre is the so-called money pit, where many Oak Island buffs believe the treasure is stashed…a pipe header system would be installed in the holes and chilled brine would be pumped in, creating a ring of frozen soil down about 60 metres to bedrock.
The only hiccup in the plan is the price tag – in the vicinity of $15 million. Better hope the supposed treasure is in a good-sized chest in that case.
