Following hot on the heels of the widely publicised news that codebreakers are trying to solve the mystery of the ‘Shepherds Monument’ at Shugborough Hall, comes word that vandals have defaced the enigmatic stone relief:
Vandals have smashed a monument that could hold the key to finding the Holy Grail in the grounds of Shugborough Hall stately home, near Stafford.A gang of yobs climbed to the top of the 250-year-old Shepherd’s Monument and kicked off 10 sea shell-shaped finials. When they were disturbed by gardeners the gang ran off towards Great Haywood.
Police are apparently calling for any witnesses to the vandalism to come forward.
