Only for Addicted to Paranormal TV Shows

Are you addicted to paranormal TV shows? I can’t help it. I go from one to another looking for that something that I never really find. I don’t consider myself a believer, neither a skeptic and that’s the problem. I belong, like many others; to that group in the middle looking for that elusive evidence to validate or not our suspicious about the existence of paranormal phenomena. The term 'Paranormal' is defined as a phenomenon or an experience that is beyond or unexplained by conventional theories of science.

Paranormal television shows like Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures are becoming incredibly popular. We watch them, then, to give proof and validation to some of our experiences or fears. If anyone is looking for more scientific proof, rather than anecdotal evidence, these shows promote to provide that.

The paranormal/supernatural-investigation subgenre has cropped up on cable television over the last few years, which includes “Ghost Hunters,” “Destination Truth,” “Ghost Adventures,” “Ghost Hunters International”, “Fact or Faked” and a few others. Each one promises to take a skeptical approach in its investigations and to rely on science to confirm or disprove paranormal claims. So far not one has been able to consistently keep that promise, but we still watching them hoping that in one episode that promise will fulfilled.

How could you neglect to mention the other shows - Celebrity Ghost Stories, My Ghost Story, My Ghost Story Caught on Camera, The Haunted, A Haunting, I Survived Beyond and Back, Paranormal Witness, Haunted Collector, Long Island Medium, Psychic Investigators, Psychic Detective, Ghostly Encounters, Haunted History and... I am sure I am leaving some out. You have a ways to go before you can declare yourself a junkie.
The real interviews with people interacting with the phenomenon on The Haunted and A Haunting are the most impressive things I have seen so far.

Paranormal Witness Season 1 Boxed Set. This season includes the incredible "Rain Man" episode which contains interviews with police officers who responded to the bizarre happenings and tell what they saw. "Rain Man" can be seen in part 1 and 2 on Youtube but not part 3. Season One also contains "Haunted Highway" which again features interviews with police officers.
The new strategy for dealing with Youtube copyright infringement is to allow some of the segments but not all. Same with the equally astounding "Spiritual Warfare" episode of Paranormal Witness. This one and Rain Man are two of the very best. It is shame they cannot be watched in their entirety on Youtube now. You have to either buy the boxed sets or try to catch them in reruns. If you can't catch them in reruns then I think $40.00 per set is well worth it if just for one or two outstanding episodes. If the only way I could get a copy of Rain Man was to pay $40.00 then I gladly would. That may turn out to be my only recourse if they quit showing reruns. Same with "Spiritual Warfare." I would pay $40.00 just for that one episode. To me Paranormal Witness is the best series followed closely by The Haunted series and the series called A Haunting. Their are Wiki pages on all of the series, and some of them can be found in their entirety on Youtube. These are the golden days of paranormal TV, and this is real science being done. It will change lots of people forever.

I really miss Unsolved Mysteries. That was a fine show. I don't know why it was ever canceled since its ratings stayed high. Last month I bumped into an old In Search Of and was transported back to the funky old days of forteana. Leonard Nimoy's voice at the time epitomized the offbeat mysterious. I just hear that voice and a rush of deja vu overcomes me.

It is true how could I have missed all these shows ... to compensate I leave a link with a list of paranormal shows since 1949, from the Doubtful blog by Sharon Hill:

Yesterday I ran into a new for me on the Chiller Channel. It is called "Unexplained Mysteries" which usually includes interviews with real people who had real experiences. The show was pretty impressive.
I must also thank you for that old Project Bluebook link. That really took me back. It used to be shown on late night TV in Houston where I grew up.
