Aleister Crowley: Grandpappy of the V for Victory Campaign?
Posted by 93rd Libra at 01:33, 30 Jan 2011..Aleister Crowley might very well have been the creator of the original V for Victory campaign, as it the symbol began appearing throughout Europe to remind the Nazis that their grasp was tenuous—which would make Crowley the grandfather of Infowars’ repurposed V for Victory campaign.

Supposedly Crowley suggested it to Churchill himself, as a way to "fight evil with evil".
Who knows, it might even be true.
It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

Well i don't know about "evil with evil", the swastika is not what i would call an "evil" symbol. But yes, the V was definitely a sort of counter-measure.
It's unfortunate that this sacred symbol has become so widely associated with fascism.

Thank God for Aleister Crowley

The most important thing to realize about nearly all the occultists is that they had no real magick. They put on airs about having such, but they didn't. Certainly Crowley didn't. They were msotly costume artists. The same can be said for the black magicians farting around behind the curtain these days too. The may have money and power, but they confuse the dramas they can create with those tools for actual occult power. Anybody with a few hundred million bucks in a Swiss bank can precipiate and manipulate events, but that is not magic. After the fact, they may gloat that magic done the deed, but that is a huge self deception. There are way too many immature and undeveloped people with way too much money these days, and they are stirring up all sorts of hell out of boredom mostly.

Indeed. However, even though certain occultists have been misguided, or have built a veil around themselves to seem more magical than they appear; they have left an aura that has inspired several to open their minds to new ways of thinking. Now, I admit (and I am sorry about this 93rd Libra) that Crowley isn't the first person I'd recommend to someone just cracking into the occult shell, but he is not someone to completely pass by. Unfortunately there are a hell of a lot of kooks out there that make other occultists look "bad." For those who are trying to inspire open mindedness, creativity, imagination, and "good," they don't need magic to prove anything.
Indeed, Harry Houdini would be busy these days if he were alive.

I'm sorry but that entire message was just riddled with statements that hold no water. They're things that really can't be proven either way, but just for fun i'd like to know what "Real Magick" is. Or where you get the idea to claim that nearly all "occultists" are fraud's. I just thought i would ask you, considering you're the enlightened Adept 'round these here parts.

....even though this was a response to the previous quote, I would just like to put this out there that I DO NOT believe all or any occultists are frauds. As I have experienced my own "events" and individuals who are more than what they appear, I know what to believe in and this is with a rational scientific mind. That is all.

Understood. I'm not quite sure what your Houdini comment was supposed to mean though. Lack of information seems to be holding up this Aeon-old bridge that connects "stage magic" to the "occult" practice. There is no connection, beyond the name and semi-spooky imagery that sometime pops up around these illusionists. *cough* Criss Angel *cough*
As for Crowley, i steer clear of the cult of personality that some label "crowleyanity". He was an amazing poet, and gifted Scholar in the field of Magic. Thats all that needs to be said really..

Criss Angel is right! What I meant was I was referencing how Houdini often took it upon himself to reveal true charlatans (specifically mediums and fortune tellers) who were milking innocent and gullible people of the few pennies they earned for false info. If Houdini was alive today, he'd probably be at every Angel show trying to prove that he's full of shit. Or those false profits and cults, as you slightly mentioned, who are chasing the dollars instead of using their skills for good.

Well, while Houdini was a master of his trade. He's what i categorize as an illusionist.
(in a class of his own , of course)

He was good at that. It is said that he challenged a coffin builder/undertaker (whatever) to make a nailed coffin that he could not escape from. So the carpenter made one with thick heavy nails and put it in his shop window as advertising for the big escape event. At night, some of Houdini's workman broke in, undid all the heavy nails, and replaced them with smaller nails that were easier to escape from. But I respect him for his work, to a point. Sad death though.
