We got your favourite occult and scientific flavours right here…

Thanks RPJ.

Quote of the Day:

Today we live in a society in which spurious realities are manufactured by the media, by governments, by big corporations, by religious groups, political groups. . . . So I ask, in my writing, What is real? Because unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it. And it is an astonishing power: that of creating whole universes, universes of the mind… the bombardment of pseudo-realities begins to produce inauthentic humans very quickly, spurious humans — as fake as the data pressing at them from all sides.

  1. To me, Dick missed the point again.
The point is that – much as some oppose the concept vehemently – we are rapidly showing ourselves that there is no one “authentic” reality. It is amazing how much currency that single reality idea has. Even with his experience of parallel realities Dick thought of them as versions of one “most authentic” reality.

Oh and all realities are “of the mind”. My fave quote by Planck sums it up:”I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing, postulates consciousness.”

  2. One of my warning flags
    “know”

Whenever I read anything that postulates “scientists know” I’m on alert. There is in actuality, very little that can genuinely be said about.

  3. harry potter
evil or not…JK Rowling is mega rich, so mega rich that I just spelled her name wrong and my spell check corrected it while typing this 😛

All that being said…those girls remind me of The Crucible *shutters*

  4. burning man – things I learned
    1. Bathrooms need to be cleaned more than twice a day with over 1000 people using them.

    2. Fire brings people together

    3. …wait…WHO BLEW CHUNKS IN THE GRAY WATER???!!!

  5. Teenage “Exorcists”
“they see Britain as a hotbed of occult activity whose origins go back to pagan times.”

They are correct. That’s one of the great things about Britain.

Course, one might ask why, if British teens are those that need to be freed from demons, there is more violent behavior among teens in the US.

One might also ask why many of those who think of themselves as Christians, who often grumble about being “persecuted”, find it compelling to attempt to debase other religions.
