News Briefs 19-07-2013

“People who say it cannot be done should not interrupt those who are doing it.”

Quote of the Day:

“We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.”

G.B. Shaw

  1. “Exploring the fringes of science and history.”
The above “News Briefs” are all firmly about things within the mainstream of science and history. Where then are the fringes?

    1. The fringe is necessarily
The fringe is necessarily less numerous in instances than the mainstream. Stocking a forum day in and day out with nothing but high quality fringe is pretty much impossible especially with the amount of content expected by the average netter to constitute a daily feast of thoughts worth visiting. This site does far better than most at looking into the fringe. You might note that most sites like this only publish weekly – not every day, nor is there anything in the TDG charter that stipulates only fringe will be explored, and besides the fringe is always in the context of the mainstream, so one must pay attention to both the mainstream and the fringe.

      1. Well said
The thing is that (IMO) paying attention exclusively to either the fringe or the mainstream would be wrong. Here @ TDG we like to focus on the places where the two realms intersect 🙂
