I've seen some of these pics before but these are wonderful.
It was when the pic of the large tube with the reflection was first posted that Arthur C.Clarke made his famous comment that there is life on Mars and it is huge.

NASA claims that they're opti
NASA claims that they're optical illusions and are indentations in the surface, not upraised tubes. They also claim that the white ribs are wind-blown sand dunes. Some of the closer pix do look like sand dunes (M1104220-E) but who knows. They're strange looking in any case. Arthur has also stated that he thinks some pix of another area show tree-like vegetation. NASA says they're ice (CO2 I think) but it would be cool if Arthur were right.
