Burma
Can the International Courts try the Junta for "genocide by inaction"? Because that's what this really is, the natural disaster is almost secondary.

Hypocritical West
I doubt anyone cares. The West has had almost 20 years to do something about the Junta, but all they've done is slap useless economic sanctions on the Burmese people while they do back-room deals with the Generals for natural resources.
Another case is Zimbabwe -- Mugabe is getting away with murder, but not a word from foreign leaders who were so loudly righteous when it came to Saddam Hussein and the Taliban.
It makes me sick, and I feel ashamed for playing computer games all weekend and getting annoyed when my football team loses, instead of dedicating every second of my life campaigning for human rights.
The Age journalist Graham Reilly sums up the plight of the Burmese people better than I can.
Zimbabwe
Believe you me, Rick, there are a lot of people in Britain seething with the UK government for inaction in Zimbabwe.

Good to hear
I only hope they protest loud enough that Gordon Brown faces an election backlash -- it's the only way politicians will listen to the people.
I wrote a scathing letter to my local Amnesty International office this week. When America invaded Iraq, they had people out in the streets handing out brochures and organising rallies. As the Zimbabwean and Burmese and Tibetan people suffer and die, all I see are tumbleweeds and all I hear are crickets. The Left is just as much at fault as the conservative Right. It's up to the people to demand their leaders listen and do something, no matter what side of the political fence they stand on.
