Anomalous Kangaroos

I became interested in out of place kangaroos after an experience I had in Northern California in 1981.Sometimes they are called screaming kangaroos. There were many sightings in the south western U.S in the late 50's , but there have also been reports from other areas. Some of the sightings were in areas where UFO's had also been sighted. The screaming kangaroo may be the precursor to the chupacabra, or the chupacabra may be an out of place kangaroo. My experience began in a rural area. Several nights a week I would hear a loud screeching noise that i thought to be some type of bird because the sound would move from one area to another pretty quikly. I assumed that it was flying. The sound was heard by many people at different times. I asked an old timer who lived in the area what type of bird it was one evening when he was visiting and the sound started up. He had lived in the area his whole life, knew the wildlife and said he did not know what it was. i continued to assume that it was a bird. The noise would drive my dog crazy and if he was outside he would run into the woods towards the direction where the sound was coming from. The sound would usually quickly sound like it had moved to another area and the dog would come back out of the woods. I heard the sound over a period of several months. One night I heard it coming from the area near where my garden was and the dog ran down towards that area and the sound moved to another area. I still assumed that it was a bird even when i went to the garden the next day and some plants had been munched. Actually munched is not a good word because parts were broken off but not eaten. I assumed that this was done by a deer who had made it over the 4 foot chicken wire fence. Then one day on a hot June day I stepped outside with my dog to take a short walk. I caught sight of something in a clearing about 200 feet away from me. I thought that it was a deer sitting down the same way a dog sits down. My dog caught sight of it the same time I did and started to run towards it. Thats when I realized that it was not a deer, it took huge hops, looked like a kangaroo and let out a repeated burst of the sound that I had been hearing for months. The dog chased and the thing hop/leaped and turned. The dog followed a bit into a brush area and then came back out, the same as other times that the sound had been heard. This was in the days before the internet so trying to find out information on it was not easy. I tried to find out what type of sounds kangaroos make and anything I found never mentioned a bird like noise or anything like that. I also wondered if it was somehow associated with a UFO that myself and another person had witnessed in the area in late 1980 but thought that thinking that was a bit of conjecture and I guess it still is even after finding out many years later of screaming kangaroo sightings being in areas where UFO's had been seen. There isn't a lot written on the subject of what is called "screaming kangaroos" or "misplaced kangaroos" or "out of place kangaroos" but they are in the realm of anomalous creatures like bigfoot.

Very interesting

Maybe you should try to contact Loren Coleman via e-mail. He may know something more about "screaming kangaroos".
