I was just wondering, is there a correlation between where those who write things on TDG, and those who only read?
The regular posters seem to be from the western world, with maybe one western expatriate in Japan. Not much outside the historic expanse of the old British Empire. But even assuming that, nobody from Africa, India, West Indies.
Does anyone know?
Just an idle thought.

Maybe ...
...if we have international readers for whom English is not their first language, they may be nervous of writing, thinking they may not be properly understood, or the other members of TDG will be critical.
Pleased be assured, all you other folk out there, that would not be the case. As far as some of our present posters go, I know that English is not their first language, but they do a great job. Even 'slightly strange' English is quite understandable, and sometimes extremely endearing.
So come on - take the challenge and get writing! It would be wonderful to add an extra international mix to the TDG family.
Thanks for bringing this up, earthling.
Regards to all, Kathrinn
Excellent Point!
I think that what most second language speakers don't really understand is that English is not nearly as grammar specific as most other languages, and that you can communicate in English without worrying about grammar. If you don't believe me second speakers, ask President Bush! Just put Subject, Verb, and Object(s) in this order for statements, and Interrogative Adverb(optional), Verb, Subject, and Object(s) for questions! That's all you have to do! Forget the rest of the grammar!!! Oh, Interrogative Adverbs are also called question words, i.e. what, when, how, which, why, etc.! Now come on and listen to Kathrinn! Post! POst! POSt! POST NOW!!!

It's A Good Question!
But, I honestly don't Know! If it helps though, I'm both! When I'm snowed under with work, I just read. But, when I have time, I post. I think that many of our non-native English speaking members are much the same. When they have the time to think out the English they post. When they don't have the time, they don't post. My excuse is that I'm a one finger typist with below average eye-hand, or should I say finger, coordination.

Escríbanle!!!
Hell, if I can do it, then everyone can too!!! ;-)
Then again, maybe at TDG we deal too much with topics and subjects that are too... westernized?
For example, we write about characters like James Randi, who may not be that important for a person living in Russia.
That's why I like to throw a few things from my own culture and background for a change ;-)
