Someone once upon a time said; “We elect the most vile, self centered , arrogant and soul-less people to lead us..Than act surprised when they get caught being themselves…” We ultimately get exactly what we deserve, don’t we? We determine our voting habits by party affiliation rather than morality…By appearance rather than integrity…By risk rather than reason. I am an Independant that was one before it became a name for dodge ball..I voted for “Mumbles” Bush the first time..and have regretted it since..He has sank us so deep into the abyss of unpayable debt that he makes Bill Clinton’s debt seem rreasonable…He will not secure our borders ..which makes 9/11 seem very convenient to me..and is unable and unwilling to articulate the simplest of speeches , which is generally known as a pathological liars impedemant. We keep voting ugly and arrogant Lawyers back into office and wonder why we have Congressmen looking for some action in a toilet somewhere..The Eliot “Pimp” Shitzer episode is just business as usual for those of us that are used to the tawdry and filth of the Felons in high office..We look to others for our souls when in fact we could care less as long as the remote and cable are within mastubation reach…Something as important as ouir soiled drinking water now goes unnoticed so we can keep up with this convenient episode of “Kings in Dirty Night Shirts” or was it The Idol…We are who we eat folks ..and we have gobbled up the insane and mundane and the things we hold our nose for would be laughable if it did not mirror back our own self image..Finally I am reminded of the old Peggy Lee lyric that is so lamentable today when looking at our current pathetic example of America’s best and brightest…”Is that all there is” …?

politicians are scum in every nation
I agree with you. I have been disappointed with politicians ever since I voted for the first time.
In my opinion, politics is a self-regulated beast that only permits the most corrupt and immoral of persons to climb to the highest seats of power. Even if a young idealist enters politics with an honest conviction of making a difference, either he won't go too far in his career, or by the time he gets to a place where he CAN make a difference, it is already too late for he arrives with his hands caught up by one too many secret hand-shakes under the table...
So the question is... what are we going to do about it?

Yes...
I would like to know what everyone's going to do about it...
What To Do...?
Good question R.P.J...Pay closer attn and support a guy like Ron Paul who in my opinion is an honorable and decent person..( He takes no Congressional salary nor does he take his many Congressional perks)-that in itself is reason to elect him to the highest office...Make the Federal Reserve Board close their door's or face prosecution ..Hold any and all Congress people responsible for allowing The Fed to control our currency and hence our destiny...Throw out any and all Rep's that have been in office for more than two terms..Hire people without concern for pedigree.or connections...Close down the C.F.R..expose traitors within our Government ..Hold onto your asses because we are in for a strormy ride to the return of our Nation to a Republic..To the Constitution and to have our complete Bill of Rights restored..Uhhh to name a few
good ideas
I suppose it comes down to find good (and non-violent I would add) ways to keep reminding those people in the government that WE are their bosses, and they our employees; not the other way around. A way to find leverage.
The problem is that if it's only you who wants to raise your voice and denounce scams, then it is easy for the government to silence one person. A bunch of person is also not enough. You need to inspire people to join you, which it is difficult because apathy is the malady of the XXIst century (and I mean globally!) an people are just worried about their own little lives and their big plasma TVs and the color of the swimsuit they will pick to their annual beach holiday. And another problem is that, if you do manage to make a group big enough to e acknowledged, that you have to prevent it to turn into a mindless mob.
And even if you succeed in all that, after you accomplish your initial goals you have to know when to move out of the way and let the newer generations take over and tackle new problems.
