Well back again, I have had a hard time writing anything these last few weeks and while casting about for time wasting things to do (not hard for me) I went out and bought some mag.s and some used books. After pretending to look for a measurement term (what is a half are when building a ship, just the term itself brings endless ideas and turns out to mean 18") where I ended up in Japan and thats a story in it self, I had to turn off the computer and read something. So I came across a story about the Serpent mound here in the mid-west, funny thing its really a type of sea serpent or dragon and as been damaged in the last few years by a well meaning attempt to stabilize the site by dumping soil on it erasing its flippers. So I'm now trying to chase down images (maps drawing, etc) of it in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. So I have gone from hiding for one set of research problems, into a whole new set. Looking dirt sea serpents in the mid-west their myths and meanings more soon.

Ignored, buried or proclaimed as fake

That’s an interesting comment Marissa. I recall that the US Army Corps of Engineers buried the discovery site of Kennewick man with two-millions pounds of rubble and dirt, and planted 3700 fast-growing trees lest someone discover more evidence.
Do you have other examples where sites have been ignored, buried or proclaimed as fake to prevent further discovery? Anyone?
BTW, this sort of destruction is not limited to the US.

all I find in the dirt I play with is worms and grubs lol
I can recall caves...being found and lost. Artifacts disappearing that were found in said caves or mines or whatnot.
I am sure there are others here that know a few examples.

Lost history
Ancient furnaces and ancient writing are erased and ignored, the furnaces being destroyed while the Smithsonian reps and the FBI watch. Why?
I found this article, North America’s Lost Archaeology, that is pertinent to our discussion. It explains the past but not the modern effort to erase history.

Depends on Which version of history you prefer.

It is best not to consider the things that turn the "conventional-wisdom history" on its head. All the philosophers, scientists, emperors, and sages of countless eons are wrong. If you ask me how I know, you'll declare me a madman, conspiracy theorist, or both. Just don't go there, because I know I could never convince you.
You'll be far happier and live a more productive life if you stop chasing pipe-dreams.
