Someone make this movie happen, stat!

Quote of the Day:

Pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere out in space,
‘Cause there’s bugger all down here on Earth!

  1. Tut, Tut
Great collection of stories. Where do we begin?

The article on Tut seems rather misinformed, especially for a site devoted to “alternative” views. The general consensus of independent investigators is that recent tests suggest Tut was the son of Smenkhkare and his full sister, the “Younger Lady,” and that the Younger Lady mummy should be identified as Nefertiti. However, mainstream scholars (not to mention Zahi Hawass) are strongly resisting this conclusion. This subject came up back in April on TDG.

That said, the new Australian-based web site Ancient-Origins.net looks really interesting. Definitely like the emphasis, if not the depth of the article in question.

  2. Sentience vs. Intelligence Quotient
The article on super-intelligence is not. Enjoyed the comments at the end more than the article itself. In my experience, the more intelligent the person, the lazier they are. The motivation to succeed at something usually requires overcoming some type of handicap. Those who are enamored by their innate intelligence often look for the easy way out, a short cut that proves they are superior to others. According to one myth, a vastly more intelligent human once existed on Earth, but it obviously didn’t persist, thereby “making us the victor!” -Wimp Lo, Kung Pow

Would someone please make the sequel to this!

      1. I have known some
I have known some superintelligents – they are fascinating, but not automatically well rounded people. Their “blind sides” can be as spectacular as their considerable intellectual assets, and their egos can be oppressive to say the least. That said – let’s make more of them – just don’t give them the keys to the city.

  3. Spinal Cord Regeneration
That smells wonderful. But only ten more cases are planned for treatment? What’s up with that?

Oh well, it’s good to know that the world will someday be safe again for knife fighting.

  4. Eboling for Dollars
The author credits the sensationalism and fear-mongering of the The Hot Zone to her becoming an epidemiologist. That’s kind of like my relationship with the Bible, haha!

By the way, http://www.ebola.com is now available for purchase at $150K.

I need to start working on a new book (of way less than 1M words). This blogging is really getting out-of-pocket!

    1. I think it was Whitley
I think it was Whitley Streiber who once said that the ET’s with whom he dealt may have had IQ’s in the 300 range. That may very well be, but are they the kind of beings any of us want to interact with on a regular basis? I think I would rather attempt to concentrate other kinds of intelligence, say, spiritual genius or perhaps ESP powers. Look at what now appears to be an ET breeding project – sasquatch. Here we have a being that is fairly simple intellectually but possessed of powerful ESP abilities. Clearly, the ET’s are thinking that “evolution” is not entirely a question of advancing quantitative IQ.

    2. Where Have All the Genii Gone?
That one belongs in the Big Book of Oxymorons for sure!

It used to be that the smartest people became doctors and scientists. It seems they now go into marketing and finance. Wonder if there are any data on that.

Regarding ET, yes, they obviously struggle along some scales of intelligence, e.g., not being capable of nurturing a child. They also seem to enjoy “End of the World” scenarios with as much emotional detachment as video gamers.

  5. Screw with Every History Textbook …
    That’s what I’m talkin’ about!

The things that pass for archaeology these days! Or maybe I’m just ancient. 91 years doesn’t sound that long ago to me.

Ok, that’s all I got. The regular bloggers can end their strike now!
