"The Psychic Sasquatch"

http://www.amazon.com/Psychic-Sasquatch-...

"This book presents hundreds of documented cases of individuals and groups of people who claim to have encountered the mythical Sasquatch, but not in the previously presumed manner. These documented contacts suggest that the Bigfoot are psychic, multidimensional and able to slip into and out of an unseen dimension, hence its elusivity and the lack of physical speciments. Evidence is presented from many first hand accounts that Bigfoot works in conjunction with extraterrestrials, as guards and scouts. This is an astonishing take on an old subject, written by an experienced field investigator and scientist who has studied this issue for many years.'

Sounds like Dimensional Shamblers from Call of Cthulhu...maybe Lovecraft was right?

In some dimension Lovecraft had to be right.
The hyperdimensional Sasquatch theory makes perfect sense given the facts. There are many stories of the creatures just disappearing into thin air, their tracks in snow abruptly disappearing, and there are also many stories associating sightings with UFO sightings. Considering how elusive and ephemeral the creature is I can think of no more likely theory about them. The conundrum of not being able to catch one is somewhat solved by this idea.

"The Psychic Sasquatch" is a sort of writing I like to indulge in every now and then. It is so far out and written from such a subjective viewpoint that there is a lot of doubt about whether Lapseritis is just embellishing heavily. I prefer to think not, but that is half the fun - trying to decide if you believe the guy or not. The narrative voice in many of the stories is pretty much the same though pretending to be the voices of many different experiencers. There is plenty of room to think that the author is casting around for stories to buttress the "psychic" idea, and that he may be creating stories from scratch just to illuminate the idea, but I think the fundamental idea is sound.

I have read quite a few Sasquatch encounter stories, and a common thread is the sense that there is a unique psychological space in the vicinity of the creature. The strange feelings often precede the actual sighting or encounter, so it is not just a freaked out human flipping out. Many sighters "feel" the creature around them before ever seeing, hearing, or smelling anything unusual.
The creature is also supposed to have the ability to read the human mind in some sense and anticipate human actions which explains why the booger is so good at escaping never mind that it might just be able to dematerialize in a nonce anyway. It also seems to be able to sense human intent and act accordingly, ie it can tell from a distance whether a human is a crazed gun toting murderer or just lollygagging around.
I have been rereading my copy of The Psychic Sasquatch again. It is what I call my "boys stories." It is quick and easy to read and has a Fate Magazine air about it but with somewhat more sophistication.
