Pharyngula..the site of empirical reason or cyber bullies.

I had the honor or misfortune to have been an active member of PZ Myers blog Pharyngula for a whole day. Within minutes of posting what I thought would be a comment on gay intolerance in the US. Within seconds the first comment from
a regular member was "Are you blind, deaf or just stupid?" A few minutes a way this poster says "Yeah and it's lame as shit. You post it here and it becomes everyone's business or perhaps you are unaware of this thing called the internet?".
Then a few more people came to the discussion throwing abuse, calling names and generally denigrating.
PZ himself came on and said this:

Arn't we a pwecious widdle one VenomFangX. You're so cute with all that pomposity and pretentiousness when you have said absolutely nothing to make a good impression of your intellect yet.

This might be a nice statement to make for Myers to make but it was impossible to have a logical discourse as people were abusive, harassing and invasive. They also used needling, hectoring and goading tactics. To punch back like I did was not liked and I was deemed a troll.

Another person who came in and asked for reason and common sense was dungeoned for being a "tone troll"

It would seem the people there give the punches but do not like them back.
What disturbs me is they seem to be cyber bullies and they stand for logic and reason. To me this is the opposite to what they really are. They are the public face of logic and reason: this is enough to make anyone to turn to a god, if they represent atheists.
