Unusual linear features have been found via Google Earth satellite imagery under the waters of Lake Okeechobee, in Florida. New image Study, Satellite image research- FL, Lake Okeechobeen linear features. Modern survey maps denote no modern canal activity.
The linear feature is around 50 feet wide and continues for almost the entire length of Lake Okeechobee. Other high albedo areas can be seen on the surrounding underwater imagery that seem out of place. It is uncertain what the features could be although it has been suggested they could be signs of an ancient canal or ancient activity. There have also been reports of an ancient city under the lake when the lake levels were much lower. It is unclear if this report is accurate but the odd features in the GE imagery suggest the possibility of ancient remains under the lake.
It is still unclear what the features could be. There have been reports of ancient canal systems being located near lake Okeechobee but it's uncertain if these linear features could be part of that system.
