The time 3 o'clock has been recurring in my dreams recently. A couple of weeks ago, I had a particularly memorable dream.
It's night. I'm at a deserted farmhouse turning the dials on a radio, attempting to get a signal. The dials are arranged in a semi-circle, like half a clockface. As I get closer to the correct combination, the signal becomes clearer. The first number is 8, and I hear a faint voice below the interference, but there's too much static. So I keep fiddling with the dials, choosing numbers at random. Then the phrase "3 at 3 o'clock" suddenly pops into my head, and immediately I intuitively know the other numbers. The signal is clear, a female voice issuing instructions on how to reach a safe haven (we're in the midst of a zombie outbreak).
I joked with Red Pill Junkie that the numbers could be for the lottery. I had just that week listened to an interview with lucid dream expert Robert Waggoner, who described how he and a friend had attempted to lucid dream the winning lottery numbers -- but they could only ever get three correct. The fact that they could only remember three numbers is very telling, when you consider the number's symbolism. So I had three numbers -- 8, 3, and 33. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the other three numbers I used to get the signal. So I guessed the remaining three, bought a lottery ticket -- and didn't get a single number correct! Oh well, them's the breaks. However, I had thought there were six dials on the radio, but I realise there had actually been seven -- 12 o'clock to 6 o'clock. I don't know a lot about numerology, so I'm not sure what it could all mean. It's interesting though that I dreamt, "3 at 3 o'clock", and from there the numbers to clear the signal became easy.
3 o'clock is a powerful time for mystics and poets, particularly 3am. The ancient Greeks associated 3am with the muses and one's daimon; only poets, philosophers, and madmen were awake at this hour. I can relate to the Greeks! According to spiritists, 3am is when the veil between the spirit realm and our world is at its most thinnest. If you want to contact the spirit world, or summon your muses and write poetry, this is a good time to do it. Rationally, sleep experts think 3am is when we're in the deepest R.E.M. cycle, ideal for lucid dreaming, but this would depend on what time you went to bed.
Whatever the case, it appears my subconscious (or someone or thing) wants me to take notice, and 3 o'clock is the key. Tune in to 3 at 3 o'clock to get a clear message -- well, a subcoscious message couldn't be any clearer, could it? This is where my dreams last night are particularly interesting. I'm not sure if they're connected or separate, but they have similar themes.
I'm on a bus, with other people who seem familiar to me, like we've all been traveling together elsewhere. I'm strongly aware the time is approaching 3 o'clock and I grow anxious, thinking I need to be at an airport to catch a flight. I don't have my luggage with me, I was meant to collect it from my parents. I send them a text message, "Where are you?", hoping I can get my luggage and not miss my flight.
I'm sitting at a desk, facing a woman with long straight hair. I'm a medium and she's there to get a reading. Between us is a barrier made up of panels that slide up and down. So we can see each other, I keep attempting to move the panels aside, but they won't cooperate. She looks perplexed, wondering what she's gotten herself into, and I get increasingly nervous. Eventually I get the panels cleared away.
Either the same dream or separate, I'm leaving with friends or colleagues, we're sharing a car together. The driver is perplexed, he can't unlock the door. For some reason the door is invisible, but I reach over and easily open the driver's door. "There ya go, easy!" A bit like when you're struggling to open a jar lid, so you give it to someone else and they open it on the first try easily. We all get in the car and drive off.
So 3 o'clock is approaching. I have to clear a barrier before I can contact the other side. I'm able to open an invisible car door that's locked to everyone else quite easily. 3 at 3 o'clock paves the way to getting a clear radio signal. Curiouser and curiouser!
What do you think? The subconscious ramblings of a snoring madman, or are there deeper messages at play here -- perhaps something from the Other Side?
