How good are placebo trials in medical experiments?

If they are right and then perhaps we should all be more aware of the possibility of wrongful, destructive results on drugs. It certainly would explain why so many drugs over recent years have turned out to be harmful to humans.

There is an almost global distrust of the pharmaceutical industry already so, I doubt that the public would be in much way surprised at this.
This brings to mind something Mark Twain said...
"I try every remedy sent to me. I am now on No. 67. Yours is 2,653. I am looking forward to its beneficial results."
After a point, what's the point?
