We need techniques to help us forget stuff that isn't important or just plain wrong (haha).

"All of them also filled out the Maslach Burnout Inventory, the Hallucinations Experiences Questionnaire, and the Tellegen Absorption Scale. While nurses reporting such experiences did not tend to experience greater job stress, those who reported a combination of hallucination perceptual experiences and a high level of psychological absorption tended to score higher for anomalous/paranormal experiences compared with those who did not report such experiences.”"

The article on nurse paranormal experience immediately reminded me of the new TV paranormal show "Paranormal Lockdown" in which Nick Groff and Katrina Weidman are locked inside allegedly haunted structures for days at a time. Often the more tired they become from restless nights' sleep on cots in uneasy settings the more does the paranormal seem to manifest - the theory being that lowered defenses "invite" spirits to take advantage and become bolder, and this is not "just in their head" as heightened anomalous activity can be seen from the audience standpoint as well.
