News Briefs 01-07-2016

Weekend groove: Buffalo Daughter, Oui Oui.

Quote of the Day:

If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.

  1. news
Firstly, nice to see you doing the news briefs again Rick!

Oui, Oui: That….is the cutest music video I’ve even seen.

Norfolk: That image they used of the guy in the cow costume looks more like a deer in the headlights. That moment when you reconsider your modelling career choices 😛

Personalities: Nope. I’ve been a misanthrope my whole life. Even thought back to when I was a kid. I hated the other kids and was extremely introverted. I’ve had maybe a total of 15 friends over my entire life that I can remember (doesn’t help that I have long-term memory loss) and about 3/4 of them I haven’t spoken to in years. I’m not even on Facebook, other than running my employer’s page. You may think it’s lonely but that’s how I like it. Although, I like my dog, he’s the only one allowed to crack this shell. Sorry if that depresses anyone.

  2. dead serious scrolls
I have it on good authority that the dead sea scrolls were actually a collection of satirical writing of the era. Well, the authority is only that I made this up, but still. A lot of old texts seem vastly exaggerated, and serious religious people (and some scholars) don’t have a sense of humor. Whereas cultures of all societies had lots of humor. So how do we know the difference?

To an outsider, Monty Python may seem religious and doctrinal.

    1. I can only hope…

…that two million years from now, an alien archeologist studying why we went extinct comes here and proves this statement true.

    2. Scrolls
I have it on good authority that Origen of Alexandria in Genesis Homily 2, Philo in Questions and Answers in Genesis, and Clement in Stromata all mentioned the Ark being pyramidal in shape. Philo was active around the same time the Scrolls were written.

Dead Sea Scrolls didn’t reveal anything new, except to the writers at Mysterious Universe.

      1. An Ark to Preserve Knowledge
On a symbolic level the Great Pyramid is in fact an Ark in that it preserves knowledge. Certain people keep looking for a “Hall of Records” under the Giza Plateau, but it is the structures themselves that contain the information, and particularly the Great Pyramid.

  3. Virus warning
Boy am I glad I have walls set up everywhere! I just got redirected from an ad that popped up on this site to a page that tried to force me to download a weird firefox patch. Turns out it’s a ransomware virus! Don’t download anything kids! You can read about it here:

    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1092693

I scanned my computer with Malwarebytes just to make sure it wasn’t redirected by something else and I am clear. I know we can’t control the ads on this site, just please no one download that virus!

    1. Ad?

Do you remember what the ad was for, so I can inform Google? (Although I’d imagine it would have been acted on rather swiftly already).

      1. 🙁
No sadly I didn’t even get to see what it was. I went to this site, clicked on Track to see if anything got new responses and as soon as it finished loading I was instantly forwarded to that site. It didn’t show up on my history either. I quickly closed everything too. Then I ran Malwarebytes to make sure and got rid of any cookies. This happened once to me before with a wikia website and Adobe Flash, but I didn’t have flash on that computer. If it happens again I will keep an eye out but I really don’t want to leave a site like that open.
