Australia, where even the cuddly-looking things want to attack you

Thanks to @WeirdAustralia.

You have power over your mind – not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.

  1. The Australian Yowie
The beginning of the item quotes a reference to Yowies in a c1800 book entitled “Modern Geography – a Description of the Empires, Kingdoms, States and Colonies: with the Oceans, Seas and Isles: In all Parts of the World” – but a comment from a reader states that there is no such reference in this work. On the surface this is correct but my research revealed the work is in 2 volumes, not 1.

In volume 2 on pages 473 and 474 of volume 2, there is a reference to a group of natives that are different from the normal aboriginal, stating that one of which could have been mistaken for an “oran-outang if it were not for the power of speech”. It also describes him as a brute and ‘less of the human species about him’. There is a much fuller description of sunken eyes, heavy brows, large mouth, unusual gait, straight hair and so on within the group.

see http://catalog.hathitrust.org/Record/007702538 and select Full View V2, to read it first hand.

So, yes, this could be a reference to ‘Yowies’, though of a group that appeared to be living with the aboriginals. It may well be that they have since interbred and no longer exist a separate species.

So the lesson would appear to be to check your sources, and to check them carefully as they might contain more information than that which you were expecting.

    1. Thanks!

Great stuff, thanks for the extra info (and good work on the reference research)!

      Kind regards,

The illogical part of my brain: Dafuq!! Time Travelers!!!

The cast of Ancient Aliens: Time Traveling Aliens!

The child in my brain: “2 girls one cup?”

I’m sorry I thought you knew. Sometimes I forget you guys are in other countries/continents and some videos don’t get around as much in other places of the world. Seriously my sincere appologies to both of you. My bad *hides in corner with tail between legs*
