Quote of the Day:

Enlightenment remains unrealized so long as it is considered as a specific state to be attained, and for which there are standards of success.

  1. Don’t Play J1906
This low-mass “relativistic pulsar” is located about 25,000 light-years away in the Terzan 5 Globular Cluster of Sagittarius (toward the galactic center).

The above article has a second animation of the pulsar.

Get jiggy with it RPJ! (As Above So Below, haha)

Does the Statue of Liberty disappear into a time-warp in this video? Surely the scientific jury is still out as to the vanishing of J1906.

  2. Circumcision
Some of the commenters in this article make good points. Living in a family of medical professionals and having autism in my family, I strongly disagree that Circumcision = Autism.
We have been circumcising for centuries but autism is a new and escalating phenomenon. So how could circumcision increase the risk of autism? As suggested, perhaps the use of PARACETAMOL (acetaminophen, Tylenol) with the procedure. This practice began in the mid 1990’s, with recommendations by WHO and the American Academy of Pediatrics. It has been shown that infants have significant difficulties metabolizing paracetamol in the first days of life. Paracetamol is known to have a narrow threshold of toxicity under the best of circumstances.
It could be more likely that certain ethnicities that practice circumcision as a custom have poorer genetics. Middle-eastern descent, for example, tends to have genetic mutations that either lead to more disease or deformities. Autism could be more of a genetic factor than caused by a surgery. However, if a kid is getting circumcised at an older age than newborn and is completely aware of what is going on, not to mention awake for the process, like the kid in the photo, no wonder his behavior changed! He just watched you cut off a piece of his dick! You can’t explain that to a child for fuck’s sake!

Also they should continue the study to see if females are also showing higher signs of autism, because if so then it’s genetics. Boys already have more of a chance to get autism in general no matter what their ethnicity. I don’t see how getting circumcised could rewire a boys brain…but then again there is that ever present proverb “Men think with their penises.”

    😛

  3. Re-Pulsar
All joking about laser-light weapons aside (but not too far aside) …

Andrew Collins writes (The Cygnus Mystery, pp 264-279) about the super-abundance of radiation that was hitting Earth toward the end of the Ice Age. This extra radiation is possibly what was causing gigantism during that time period. Scientists are apparently leaning in favor of the Cat’s Eye Nebula (3,300 light years away) as the source of the radiation as opposed to the neutron star pulsar X-3 in Cygnus (30,000 light years away). Collins still argues in favor of X-3 as the primary source in the years between 15,000 and 12,000 BC and an earlier surge between 38,000 and 35,000 BC.
