Is it E-Prime Week? Why yes, it is.

Quote of the Day:

Man is the only animal for whom his own existence is a problem which he has to solve.

Erich Fromm

  1. Cloning Wooly Mammoth
I have every confidence that the Korean cloning team will emerge victorious in their struggle with ethical misgivings and common sense. This for two reasons. First, because there’s an immense amount of money and fame to be had as a result of cloning a wooly mammoth. And second because there is no record of a Korean scientist ever having let a little thing like moral misgivings or even the law get in the way of gaining either notoriety or a penny.

    1. UFO’s Over Nuke Plants
UFO’s over nuke plants and UFO’s over nuclear missile facilities are perhaps born of the same philosophy – a technologically advanced race “demonstrating” that there is something wrong with our nuclear technology. Perhaps these ET’s know of an impending solar Carrington event and are concerned that the collapse of the electrical grid could bring disaster to the fragile nuclear failsafes we have in place.

  2. E-Prime appears to be a wonderful tweak to our language
This seems like a great way to re-think how we think! Our thought processes can so easily become hardwired without us paying any mind, but this definitely appears to help us with the GIGO problem.

    1. Many Worlds
I do wonder how many of these cosmologists and theoretical physicists pay any attention at all to the rapidly advancing “ghost hunter” movement which has so many plug ins to their theorizing. Fleetingly immanent spirits are transdimensional. The techniques for capturing their presence – optical, acoustic, etc. are ripe for theoretical analysis at the higher level of intellect that the best and most cutting edge physicists could bring to it. Just based on what I see of the most “out there” physicists appearing on the TV science shows – most of them appear reticent to discuss or invoke the spirit phenomena yet. They are sill in self-censorship mode even though they pride themselves are being open minded. Granted, it’s a subject that can threaten academic standing.

        1. The Mythology of Mars Attacks
Yes, it seems Dr. Brandenburg should learn to communicate in E-Prime, haha!

What strikes me as interesting is Brandenburg’s phrasing that “aliens are hostile to young ‘noisy’ civilizations.”

To use E-Prime, this sounds like something right out of the Enuma Elish:

“I will destroy, I will wreck their ways,
That quiet may be restored. Let us have rest!”

In the Egyptian version, this same sentiment is expressed by an allegory involving a “pool of (boisterous) hippos” that must be done away with.

Ironically, in both stories it is the gods that bring about their own demise by trying to rid themselves of the noise makers.

Incidentally, the Hittite “Song of Ullikummis” and related “Myth of Illyankas” describe how the Storm God (Adad/Mars) was attacked by Ullikummis/Illyankas (Tammuz/Asteroid Belt). The assailant (Tammuz/Egyptian Osiris) was killed and broken into pieces. The Storm God ultimately prevailed but was itself devastated (with eyes and heart ripped out).

All of the myths associate the planet Mars with heroic but tragic battle. These ancient cosmologies suggest that Mars was battle-scarred by violent (physical, electro-magnetic, etc.) interactions with other bodies of the solar system, and not by aliens per se. Recall that the god Adad was associated with the lightning bolt.

These myths are actually quite detailed and suggest that a good bit of theorizing had been undertaken to explain how our solar system arrived in its current state. The myths also take into account the entire solar system of 12 or 13 original planets and not only the visible planets! There were also two major (somewhat competing) cosmologies regarding the formation of the twin planets Venus and Earth and the Asteroid Belt. In one, Venus and Earth are formed from the remains of Tiamat after it was smashed by Marduk. In the Egyptian version (also reflected in the Bible), Venus (Thoth/Simeon) and Earth (Set/Levi) are themselves considered the killers of the fifth planet, who is male (Osiris/Issachar-Shechem) rather than female (Tiamat) in characterization.

The Enuma Elish contains poetic and penetrating descriptions of the ignition of our sun and the reaction of a second/twin (failed) sun, subsequent planetary “conflict” and “migration” and many other astonishing details. Much of this theorizing actually sounds more reasonable than current “scientific” models, which are in fact starting to adopt concepts that are already found in the myths!

Will science prove the myths to be the musings of ancient primitive man, or will the knowledge possessed by ancient man make fools of modern scientists?
