News Briefs 24-06-2013

I can only hope this news is fresh. Bottle-feeding seven kittens doesn't leave much time for daily web surfing.

Thanks, RPJ!

Quote of the Day:

When asked about his recent online fame:

What I don't like about it is that the fame is getting to my head. I have cut my friends and family off, they keep asking me for money. I see myself as a god amongst men!

Bunnie rescuer Joshua Bisnar -- joking.

"Bottle-feeding seven kittens doesn't leave much time for daily web surfing."

That's because you're feeding them the way us humans do.

Would you consider reverting to how Kats evolved to feed kittens?

.......of the kittens not your nipples ;)

...I forgot how I got here but everyone seems to be heading off in that direction. I hope someone brought food. I have a feeling this is going to be a long journey................

It’s not just that the passage of time distorts what you remember; it’s that the present reshapes the past. Looking back, my memory wants to tell the story a certain way, as though Dan Brown, a soon-to-be-famous author, visited our English class to talk with us about writing. But at the time, Dan Brown, age thirty-three and unfamous, was just a regular guy, a kind person doing something nice for a group of unhappy kids.

OH MY GOD!!! THIS IS PROOF THAT DAN BROWN HAS CONTROL OVER TIME AND SPACE ITSELF! WE ARE ALL FUCKED! HE CAN DISTORT OUR SLEEP DEPRIVED MEMORIES! EVERYBODY RUN!!!!

I use Ixquick exclusively though I doubt it hasn't been hacked. Still, it is actually a better search engine than Google or Bing or the others in my opinion.

Interesting article, although let's be honest: most office jobs do not involve creative thinking. Even in my own line of work (design) I'm not supposed to be on 'full creative mode' 100% of the time; there will come a time when you're doing something menial & repetitive, and that's when coffee is a great aid.

I certainly can agree on the benefits of letting the mind 'wander off' though. Most of my best ideas come to me NOT when I'm sitting at my desk, but when I'm driving back home.

So here's my suggestion: schedule your group meetings to 10 or 11 in the morning, when your co-workers are not feeling the effects of their morning coffee buzz, nor are their stomachs churning with hunger.

And if you're supposed to reach a big decision, allow for a 10-minute (not)coffee break, so the team can walk out the conference room, let the info sink in, brew inside their heads, gather up again & allow for the big Eureka moment to pop up.

It's not the depth of the rabbit hole that bugs me...
It's all the rabbit SH*T you stumble over on your way down!!!

I too am in the field of design, but I do have my creative switch on constantly. I have to, even in my dreams I get ideas. I see new designs in everything. I guess I'm lucky because there is always something new to do and think about doing.

Aside from this...I hate coffee. I can't stand the smell let alone the taste and I dare not touch energy drinks. After working in a pharmacy for five years, I've seem horrible addictions to that crap (even a mother who gave her 3 year old a Red Bull). This and a genetic heart condition makes it impossible for me to enjoy caffeine, even a soda can give me palpitations, and apparently I'm allergic to aspertane as I get nauseous and break out in hives.

Tell you what though, RPG...I'll give you all the damned Starbucks coffee gift sets people keep getting me for Christmas....oye...

PS - Our meeting today was held at 9:30AM...our boss brought bagels and coffee. It was all gone by the end of the meeting, but then again no one makes enough money there to buy food anyway :P

I think I only go there when I want to enjoy a Chai latte ;)

But I do like me some sweet java. I take it after my mom, who is also very fond of it --and fortunately, it doesn't affect my sleep one bit. My dad on the other hand, is a terrible insomniac.
