My cousin is going to Australia this year as part of a program in her college, I told her to watch out for everything cuz it can probably kill you. Here's hoping she doesn't come back with a surfer boyfriend ;)
Lovely continent though...

Years ago there was this late night documentary on all the animals that could get you in Australia. It looked like a square old government film made by people who wanted to keep tourists away from Australia. It just kept going and going and if you forgot how dangerous the box jellyfish was it would take another whack at it. Wish I could find it now. It was so serious and repetitive that is was a hoot.

as someone who lives in nj i can proudly say that christie is too much of a fat blowhard to fit in the door of a masonic lodge let alone know shit about it's signs and symbols. for me the republican convention is just an extension, so to speak, of the Bohemian Grove, if nothing else in frivolity.

For seeing blue moons, you forgot blue tinted clear plastic and glass! I can see a blue moon anytime and green moons are nice, too! The ladies on TDG might like lavender or pale pink moons!:)
The UFOs orbiting the moon are interesting, aren't they? I want to meet the Aliens, don't you? I hope that they are here to straighten thing out, prevent WWIII, and punish human rights abuses like nation-state sponsored child abuse!

For decades people have been imploring for the Space Brothers to come down here and deliver us from ourselves. I think this attitude needs to stop.
In the end, it would be an even bigger harm than not lending a hand at all. Look what has happened in Afghanistan and other nations where Democracy has been forced upon. It has always failed and it will keep failing because democracy can NEVER be forced upon: it need to emerge on its own accord.
That's why I think these entities MIGHT be wanting us to step up and rise to their level through our own efforts. And if we fail? well, then we weren't worth the effort in the first place, were we?

1} They could stop all bullying and human rights abuses.
2} In doing number one, they could prevent WWIII and allow all nations to negotiate on a level playing field. What ever was decided in those negotiations would be implimented by us.
3} They could help us with technical problems, i.e. disposing nuclear waste, cleaning-up the environment, providing free electricity, etc..
{We would decide our own destiny on a level playing field!}

We would forever become supplicants to them. Always expecting to come and fix the messes we've put ourselves into.
That would mean our civilization would die away. And inevitably after the gratitude faded away the resentment would emerge.
I recommend you get a copy of Kingdom Come. Yes, it's a graphic novel about super-heroes, but it's a great analogy of just how deleterious the influence of 'meta-humans' with powers and knowledge far beyond those of mere mortals would be for our society.

The problem is that the human race is acting in a very suicidal manner. Many right wing conservative evangelical christian leaders, i.e. Pat Robertson, think that a nuclear war starting in the middle east will bring on the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ, the son of the great cockroach in the sky. The Anglosphere is on its death bed and the only way to resurrect it is war with Russia, China, and their allies, thermonuclear WWIII. The Israeli leadership wants war. Britian is losing it's empire and the Queen would rather go down fighting, etc.. By comparison, outside of Asia things do not look very good! Parts of Central and South America, Africa, Northern Europe and European Russia might be alright. Thermonuclear War, WWIII, kills between about 3,000,000,000 to 6,000,000,000 people. After a WWIII event, most of the planet will be a cespool and we will probably have a nuclear winter that could easily kill the rest of the population!
Do we have a choice?

Nothing so indelibly burns into the collective DNA as making a huge mistake and having to live with the consequences of it. We may only be good at learning things by way of disaster.

I think you're right.
@ cnnek, why is it we're always pleading to a higher power to come to our rescue? Gods, angels, or extraterrestrials, we only change the nomenclature, but we don't change our stance.
Allow me to presume that you don't have children of your own, do you?
Well, neither do I. But be that as it may, I would think that the best manner to educate your children would be to let them learn from their mistakes. Their broken arms, failed tests, botched relationships, etc. Within limits, of course...
That's why I get so annoyed with atheists who like to sneer about people's belief in a God who permits murders and wars and famines and all kind of atrocities into this world. They think the only God that could exist is a Daddy god. "Daddy, buy me this toy!" "Daddy, I want a new car!" "Daddy this!" "Daddy that".
My sisters and I only asked our father to help us with our homework once or twice. After that we learned to better struggle with trigonometry on our own! :P
But my sisters and I were straight-A students.
Look, think about it this way: Maybe the aliens do give a damn if we destroy ourselves and our world, because they know all souls are immortal anyway, and we'll just have to keep trying until we learn our lessons.

In general, I agree with you! Specifically, learning requires living people that learn! And, I want us to learn from this!
On top of other factors that I have mentioned, there are two super volcanoes, one under Florence in Italy the other under Yellowstone in Wyoming in the U.S., that could be triggered by a WWIII event and both of them are capable of causing a volcanic winter that could destroy life on this planet.
I'm not asking for aliens to solve our problems! I'm asking aliens to make it possible for us to solve our own problems and to provide some technical assistance that will help us to solve our problems!!!

What makes you think that hasn't happened? As a creative individual, I'm in a perpetual state of awe for what is known as the 'Eureka' moment when scientists and artists get that flash of insight, the prelude to a great work of art or a new major theory.
What if the source of inspiration is external?
In any case, we don't really need technical assistance. I do believe we could solve our problems with our current technology. What we need is political and social will to do so.

The main problem with obtaining Political and Social stability is the Lunatics that are running the Anglosphere! We need to get rid of them without killing everything else! And, I think that Aliens could help us with this problem!
I think that most inspiration is external!
But, independent research indicates that GM foods are not safe and that Monsanto, Dow Chemical, etc. have done much damage that could take thousands of years to undo. Maybe Aliens could teach us how to undo the damage more quickly!

You get rid of one and ten crop up to take its place. I think the problem is systemic, and no external influence is going to help us with that.
No, the solution is within ourselves. And it has to emerge from within, otherwise there will always be those who oppose it out of pride or suspicion.

The way to get rid of the Lunatics running the Anglosphere is to shut down the Anglosphere and Alien technology can help us to effectively shut down the Anglosphere!
Most genetic modification is based on bad science and this is true for all GM food and pesticides that kill birds, butterflies, and bees! There is a strain of safe GM cotton that is based on good science; but, it is a major exception. On the whole, however, GM spores from GM flora are contaminating everything. At this point, our science isn't good enough to prevent GM spores from contaminating everything! So, we need Aliens to teach us how to prevent GM products from contaminating everything!

Once again I reiterate my belief that wishing to receive technology from somebody else is not the solution. You become dependent of the technology, and if it breaks down or needs special fuel you can only rely on your 'benefactors' to give you a hand.
And why would these aliens be so generous anyway?
You write against GM foods, and yet what we don't like about Monsanto is precisely that which you would gladly receive from the aliens: advanced proprietary technology that you cannot replicate.
In any case, this is purely theoretical. We can dream all we want about these galactic Santa Clauses, but it's not going to get us any closer to getting our hands on one of them saucers ;)
What's more. I'm starting to think that getting your hands on alien technology might be a double-edged sword: It might take you decades to replicate the technology, it would funnel a great chunk of your resources, and all your research would have to be conducted at a snail's pace for fear of leaks of classified information. Then after all that effort you might finally be able to have that shiny saucer hover a whopping 3 feet off the ground for 30 whole seconds —one 30 because each test costs 10 billion dollars— meanwhile your population is starving and social unrest is on the rise.
You gotta be careful when you rub that lamp. You never know if your greatest wish is going to become you curse.

I don't really want alien technology either. I want to get rid of the Lunatics that run the Anglosphere and much of the rest of the world and I'm not picky about how I get rid of them; because, in my opinion, billions are going to die if we don't get rid of those idiotic lunatics!

We really don't have much say in the matter as to whether we will be interfered with technologically. It is obvious now that somebody is zipping around with technology vastly more advanced that what we see everyday, so the ball is in their court. Given what we are seeing up there they could squash us like a bug if they so desired. Some people are asserting that the Nasty Old White Men are on the way out anyway:
