News Briefs 16-01-2008

I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place, and I might be sitting on something spiky.

Thanks Greg and Kat.

Quote of the Day:

Frank Warren: With the benefit of hindsight, if we could go back . . . what would you have liked to see happen?

Mike Fortson: Well, first of all I would have liked to have seen my ass moving quickly and retrieving a video camera and taping the massive V shaped craft as it passed in front of us. I truly believe this would have ended any speculation that what we and thousands of other Arizonians witnessed that night was something other than flares, planes, blimps or balloons. I really apologize to the world that I did not think clearly and failed to react, as I should have. Instead I just stared and was somewhat paralyzed to the impossible craft I was witnessing.

Other than that, I would like to have seen the media react with a more keen awareness that something spectacular did happen. I would have liked to see them treat our fellow citizens with more respect and accept the fact that “they” (the media) are not the only ones with eyes and a brain.

Interview with Mike Fortson, Phoenix Lights UFO witness

  1. Mega Church=Mega Scam
Reason number one that I don’t go to church. Why does God always need more money? I’d rather my money go to the 2 charities my husband and I give to. Charities that are focused right in our back yard.

  2. I want to believe, but …………

    • Witnesses claim they saw F-16s pursue a mile-long UFO over Texas. With video and a lot of USAF denial.
    • Researcher Steve Hammons discusses the Texas UFO, asking if it can be compared to the 1997 Phoenix Lights. What are you feeding your cattle, Bill?

Keep in mind that Stephenville is in close proximity, 50-miles or so, to a very busy international airport (DFW), a regional airport, several smaller airports, a major military aircraft manufacturing and flight test facility, a helicopter manufacturing and flight test facility, and a Joint Services Naval Air Reserve base. Everything that flies from a single-engine Cessna to a C5A Galaxy can be seen at one time or another around there. I’m not saying the folks in Stephenville didn’t see anything, I’m just pointing out that that it is a crowded sky. It’s also easy to misinterpret what is seen. Even experts misjudge distances and size with no reference. Where are the pics? And why does an extraterrestrial vehicle burn running and navigation lights? Being a skeptic doesn’t seem popular on TDG of late but IMO there’s nothing to see here folks, just keep moving.

I didn’t see anything. I’m several hundred miles from the subject area watching my animals dine on sweet Texas hay and clear water due to mild weather and ample rainfall with no temperature extremes.

No extraterrestrial invasions (I’m keeping my eye on the armadillos) or global pseudo-catastrophes (of the name we shall not speak) have occurred as yet.

      Bill

    1. Perception Management?
I’ve seen a few commentators and reports compare the Stephensville UFO sighting to the Phoenix Lights of 1997, which I think is just plain wrong. There are major differences between the two, and the Stephensville sighting doesn’t have the same quantity nor quality of witnesses. It’s why I quoted Mike Fortson. Not to mention the Phoenix Lights occurred in Arizona (and they weren’t even over Phoenix). To be fair, many reports are mentioning Roswell too — we can’t expect every journo to be as knowledgeable as Timothy Good*! 😉

One of the Stephensville witnesses is Jason Leigh, who used to falsely claim to have a PhD. He also smashed his car into the Waco Veterans Affairs regional office in 1998, starting a 14-hour standoff with police. Not exactly a trustworthy witness! I’m not saying all the Stephensville witnesses are like Leigh, but this Texas UFO encounter isn’t on the same level as the Phoenix Lights or Chicago O’Hare.

I’m wondering if the Stephensville UFO is “perception management”, timed to coincide with Dennis Kucinich’s bid for Presidential candidacy.

*I’m reading Good’s latest book, Need To Know (Amazon US or UK), right now. I usually struggle with the minutae of military trivia, but I’m gripped by the depth of Good’s knowledge. I’m a big fan of Jacques Vallee and theories of UFOs and alien encounters being extradimensional or supernatural, but Good convinces me there are nuts-and-bolts alien craft that have been visiting our planet since at least WWII. Without a doubt. Rarely does Good say, “I believe” or “this suggests”. Instead, he simply presents evidence after evidence that is compelling, stands up to scrutiny, and cannot be ignored. Anyone interested in the UFO mystery should read Need To Know.
