News Briefs 06-10-2006

Bill, this first one is for you.

Thanks Greg.

Quote of the Day:

The gigantic catastrophes that threaten us today are not elemental happenings of a physical or biological order, but psychic events. To a quite terrifying degree we are threatened by wars and revolutions which are nothing other than psychic epidemics. At any moment several millions of human beings may be smitten with a new madness, and then we shall have another world war or devastating revolution. Instead of being at the mercy of wild beasts, earthquakes, landslides, and inundations, modern man is battered by the elemental forces of his own psyche.

  1. Mondays
Well, you see, I don’t hate Mondays.

I recently applied to do a 4 day working week with my employer, who granted my request.

So, I now have a 3 day weekend – every week! – and I NEVER go into work on a Monday any more. Instead, I stay at home and look after little Ben (can you believe he’ll be 1 year old this coming Wednesday?)

We have a great day, going to the shops, going to the swimming pool, playing in the park on the swings etc.

So you see, I don’t hate Mondays.

    I LOVE MONDAYS!!

    yer ol’ pal,

    1. monday afternoons
most people are ok with monday afternoon, when they have had stuff to eat, and when they have recovered from their hangovers.

This includes people who claim that they do not do anything whatsoever that could include a hangover.

    2. Happy Birthday Ben
All good wishes to your little boy for his birthday – I thought it must be coming up soon. Also, good wishes to yourself and to Mrs Dr Xibalba – good to see you posting again, we need livening up a bit!

      Regards, Kathrinn.

    3. Happy Birthday Ben! をたんじょび をめでとう ごさいます ベン!

  2. Free Speech & GW
    Hi Kat,

Unfortulately, the topic should be one of science but it is now political. It shouldn’t be. I don’t challenge the warming because there are conflicting data. I do challenge the cause – natural or caused by humans. Overwhelming data supports naturtal activity.

That article supports my thesis that environmentalism is a new religion. Let the witch hunts begin. But I didn’t expect it in Australia. Scary stuff. I may dress as an fanatic environmentalist for Halloween.
