The Daily Grail is an indy website that has been posting almost daily updates since 1998, on the fascinating topics – often considered ‘heretical’ – that lie at the edges of science, history and culture. But being independent, and having respect for our readership, means we sink a lot of hours every week into the site, but earn almost nothing. This makes it difficult to not only run the website, but improve it too.
As such, we need friends. You can be a ‘Friend of the Grail’ in a number of ways – and in return, we’ll do our best to look after you (more on that below)
- The easiest method is to just regularly send a small amount of money as a ‘patron’ – as little as $1 a month (or more if you think we deserve it). ‘Patreon’ is a super-easy service for supporting creators such as ourselves, and we’ve now set up our own Patreon page where you can make a massive difference to the future of The Daily Grail – and also get a little in return (beyond just an awesome website) for being so awesome.
For those that don’t like to read text, here’s the big button you need to press:
- If you can’t even afford $1/month, you can still help out in other ways, such as being a news hound submitting links of interest on a regular basis. If you’re interested, send an email using the ‘Contact us’ link on the right of the page (numbers will be limited, as too many emails will become more work than ever!).
- Alternatively, if you’re artistic, you can help us out creating fun images for use on the site. As above, send us an email via the ‘Contact Us’ link on the right of the page.
- Maybe you have an idea of how you can help out that we haven’t even though of – send us an email!
For the help you’re offering us, we want to give back where we can. Now, we don’t have a lot of financial resources, but we do have plenty of friends – well known authors and artists who have offered special bits of swag that we can giveaway (not to everyone unfortunately – we’ll have to do a prize draw). Signed posters and books, things like that. So we’ll be doing regular giveaways of this gear, picking a name at random from our list of ‘Friends of the Grail’.
Important: If you support us in any of the above ways, send us an email with the subject line ‘Friends of the Grail’ so we can add you to our ‘Friends of the Grail’ list, to ensure you don’t fall through the cracks.
Additional to that, we’ll try and find other ways of making it worth your while (on top of serving up a great website). Stay tuned!
