Anna Mitchell-Hedges, the alleged discoverer of the Mitchell-Hedges Crystal Skull, passed away on April 11, aged 100. Anna was reported to have have come across the controversial artefact at the Mayan City of Lubaantun on her birthday in 1924. The skull has become somewhat of a New Age touchstone, although skeptics say that it is more likely a 19th century European creation, sold to Anna’s father Frederick ‘Mike’ Mitchell-Hedges by Eugène Boban, a French collector of pre-Columbian artifacts and antiques dealer who ran his business in Mexico City between 1860 and 1880. The crystal skull is believed to now be in the possession of with Anna’s companion Bill Hohman. Thanks to Filip Coppens and David Hatcher Childress for sending word.
